What is there to know about Buffalo?

Buffalo, MN is the county seat of Wright County, and located less than 50 miles outside of Minneapolis and St. Cloud. Buffalo is known for its small town charm with suburban amenities, making it the perfect place to spend the day shopping or enjoying leisure activities. It’s also a great place to do business!

Do the Roam.

Whether you are new to Buffalo or a life-long resident, if you haven’t done the Buffalo Roam, put that on your list to check off immediately! Back in 2004, the Buffalo Championship Rodeo Association commissioned businesses to decorate life-sized buffalo, which are placed all around the area.

Today, there are nearly two dozen buffalo, all uniquely decorated, with their own story to tell. A map of where all the buffalo reside is available online. See how many you and your family can get to and take photos, which you can then post to social media using the hashtags #BuffaloRoamMN and #ItsBetterInBuffalo.

Enjoy the great outdoors.

If you enjoy hiking, biking, walking, or any other outdoor activity, you’ll be excited to find Buffalo has more than two dozen parks and recreation areas! Each park has its own amenities, like grills for cooking, basketball courts, volleyball courts, outdoor play areas, and so much more.

If you enjoy water activities like swimming or kayaking, check out Pulaski Lake, Buffalo Lake, Deer Lake, Mink Lake, or Mary Lake. Buffalo’s parks are open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and pets are welcome as long as they are on a leash. The outdoors can be a great place for the entire family to gather, play, and make memories together!

A best bet is Sturges Park, which is home to a music trail. The trail is home to life-sized percussion instruments, like chimes, xylophones, and drums, and everyone is welcome to bang on them and make their own beats!

Take a step back in history.

Families are able to explore a historic log cabin, as well as a former town hall, and roam through other exhibits that include photos and artifacts of Wright County. A favorite of museum visitors is the Nelsonian exhibit, a one-person band consisting of 32 different instruments! If you are around for the holidays, be sure to check out the Festival Of Trees, featuring over 75 trees decorated by locals.

Grab local delights at the farmers’ market.

If you are looking for delicious local delights, products, or produce, be sure to check out the Buffalo Farmers’ Market.
